Mary Gormey

Mary Alice Schultz Gormey, 94, passed from this life on April 2, 2020 in Houston surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on December 26, 1925 to Jacob and Minnie Schultz.

Mary lived her 94 years, 3 months and one week in many places that included Jones Creek, Broaddus and Seabrook, Texas.  She was an active member of churches in these areas and created a home with George L. Gormey where she entertained guests, neighbors, family and friends with advice, stories, and spiritual chats.  She continued this task when she lived her last year and a half with her son, George Hildred Gormey and daughter in law, Angela Gormey in Seabrook, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George L. Gormey; daughter, Candice Basey; parents, Jacob and Minnie Schultz, and brothers, Robert Schultz, Jacob “Sonny” Schultz, and Gene Schultz.

Mary is survived by her son and his wife, George and Angela Gormey; three granddaughters, Savannah Gormey, Lauren Flurry, Summer Peel and her husband, Andrew; 5 great grandchildren, Victoria, Blake, Holden, Dominique, and Atlas; two sisters, Barbara Hawkins and Rosalie McBride; sister in law, Mary Schultz; and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

Due to Covid-19, private family services will be held at Brazoria Cemetery.
