Maurice Marrow

Maurice Marrow was promoted from this life into his heavenly home on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the age 89. He was born on February 21, 1933, in Cedar Lane, TX to Homer Marrow and Bonnie Howze Marrow.

On March 12, 1955, Maurice married Lois Venable and spent 65 years together as sweethearts. Maurice graduated from UCC in Corpus Christi, TX in 1955, and then went to Golden Gate Seminary in San Francisco, CA where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Divinity. While attending seminary and ministering to several churches, Maurice and Lois felt called to serve the Lord on the mission field in Africa, where they spent 31 years in Tanzania as they raised their four children and helped lead countless people to the Lord.

Maurice was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, friend, and served as spiritual father to many more. He enjoyed worshiping the Lord with a whistle rendition of every hymn, sharing his stories of family, travel, and ministry (repeatedly...), and making a point to never meet a stranger.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Lois Marrow, his parents Homer and Bonnie Marrow, brothers R.T. Marrow, Billy Ray Marrow, Marcellus Marrow, and sister Alline Marrow Stanley.

He is survived by his sons, Rick Marrow and wife Melodie of Baytown, TX, David Marrow and wife Joy of Alvin, TX, and Jon Marrow and wife Vicki of McAlester, OK; daughter, Jeanette Nelson of Sweeney, TX; brother, Homer Lee Marrow of Heavener, OK; sisters Sally Strong of Santa Fe, NM, and Charlotte Ruegsegger of Heavener, OK; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-children; 1 great-great-grand child; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in the chapel of C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Cedar Lane Baptist, 12582 FM 457, Bay City, TX. with Pastor Donnie Melton officiating. Interment will follow in Sweeny Cemetery.
