Michael Earl Danford

July 9, 1960 – November 1, 2025

Michael Earl Danford, age 65, of West Columbia, Texas, passed away on November 1, 2025. Michael was born on July 9, 1960, to Earl and Norma Danford in Freeport, Texas. He attended and graduated from Columbia High School.

Michael was a maintenance supervisor at DynMcDermott Petroleum at Bryan Mound for over 20 years and worked in Maintenance for Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District (CBISD) over the course of his career.

He is survived by his mother, Norma Jean Danford; the mother of his children, Veronica “Lucille”; and his five beloved children, Jarrid (Jean-Anne) Danford, Courtney Danford, Kenneth “KC” (Amanda) Danford, Josh Fromme, and Meghan Fromme. He also leaves behind twelve cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Taygen, Trinity, Easton, Ellis, Cedella, Ellyatt, Kensleigh, Lozen, Sutton, Stratton, and Daitonah. Michael joyfully anticipated the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Riley, in January. He is also survived by his niece, Danielle Danford.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Earl Danford, Jr.; his brother, Mark Eugene Danford; and his grandparents, Eugene and Malinda Brinkman of Somerville, Texas, and Earl and Lilly Danford of Wild Peach; as well as many others who have gone too soon.

Michael was best known for his love of barbecue and cook-offs, where his skill earned him and his team, the “In-Laws and Outlaws,” countless trophies and accolades. An avid sports fan, he loved his Cowboys and his Astros, and was a fan of essentially any Texas team, never missing a game. In his youth, he played football and baseball for Columbia High School, and on weekends, he could be found fishing or spending time boating on Lake Somerville.

Above all, Michael was a family-dedicated man, and where his family was, that was where you could find him. He often traveled all over Texas and spent months at a time in Arizona to be with his loved ones, cherishing every moment together. One of the many things his family will miss most is his incredible cooking and his favorite saying, “You know dat’s right.”

Michael will be remembered for his big heart, sense of humor, love of life, and devotion to his family.

“May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.”

Rest in Peace, Dad.
