Mildred Galaznik

Mildred was born on August 13, 1924 in her family home in Needville, Texas, to Ludwig and Augusta Dannhaus; she left this life on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the age of 93.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening and staying busy around her home. She was a strong and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her life revolved around her family and her faith in God.

Mildred married Terry Sweeny in 1941 at the age of 17. They were married until his death in 1980. Soon after their marriage they traveled to California to work in the North American Aviation Factory. During World War II, she worked as 11 Rosie the Riveter11 building B25 Bombers and P51 Mustangs. Upon returning from California they settled in Clute where Terry went to work for Dow Chemical. They later moved to Jones Creek and then to outside of Sweeny where she enjoyed the country life raising cattle and vegetable gardening.

She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brazoria where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for 27 years.

In 1984 she married Joe Galaznik. They enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and dancing. Joe passed away in 2011.

Mildred is preceded in death by husbands Terry Sweeny, Joe Galaznik, her twin daughters, who died in infancy, her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her daughter Jo Anne and husband Bubba Autrey of Lake Jackson, daughter Karen and husband Jodi Duke of Richwood; granddaughters, Jelena Mills of Houston, Kendra Nolan and husband Jason of Kemah and Aprile Ulloa of Pearland; great grandchildren Cameron, Bailey and Riley Mills, Caymin and Caden Nolan, and Lilyana Ulloa. A brother, Tom Dannhaus, sister in law, Johnnie Dannhaus and sister in law, Vlasta Sweeny Smerek and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 2:30pm at Baker Funeral Home in Brazoria on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 with visitation starting at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Brazoria Cemetery.
