Mildred Ruth Gillenwaters, 92, of Marble Falls went to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday - April 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Coyle, Oklahoma on January 8, 1933, to Myrtle and N.J. Miller.
Mildred met the love of her life, Jim, while living in Oklahoma and they married in March of 1951 , eventually settling in Lake Jackson and later moving to West Columbia for several years.
Mildred worked in the personnel department of BISD for over 30 years. She was passionate about making all the new employees feel welcome and a part of the school family. Mildred was an active member of Columbia Methodist Church until she and Jim moved back to Lake Jackson. She loved organizing, directing and participating in various church services and events.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jim. Left to cherish her memories are her sons James and wife, Karen, Jeff and wife, Debbie; daughter Janet Steffler and husband, Dwight; grandchildren Jessica Patel and husband, Zubin, Mark Gillenwaters, Megan Hipp and husband Colby, Amber Fletcher, Stephanie Darrohn, Lisa Grivette; great grandchildren Miranda Itchon and husband, Drew, Madisyn Valdez, Mikayla Dodds, Hayden and Koda Gillenwaters, Addison and Ryann Hipp, Kinsley Lavery, Reese Riley, Malorie Grivette and one great- great grandson, James Marcos Itchon, cousin Jane Ford, nephew Harold Gillenwaters and wife, Donna.
A celebration of life will be held at Columbia Methodist Church, 315 S 16th Street, West Columbia on Tuesday, May 13 at 1:30 pm. A reception will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Columbia Methodist Church.
