The Rev. Edward Livingston Boineau, Pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sweeny, Texas and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Palacios, Texas, died on September 5, 2025.

Pastor Boineau was born in Columbia, South Carolina. He married Peggy Herbold in 1985, while he was on his journey to becoming a minister of the Gospel. He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Dallas and a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. He was ordained as a minister and called to serve as pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sweeny, Texas, on August 17, 1997. In 2014, he began serving at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Palacios, Texas. He faithfully shepherded these two Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod congregations until his peaceful departure to his heavenly home on September 5th, 2025.

Pastor Boineau often shared that his dream was to have a loving wife and children, and he loved to remind his family that this dream was fulfilled through them. His career goal was to serve as a pastor in a small town where he could know each of his parishioners well. In addition to having his family dreams fulfilled, his career aspiration was also achieved. His work in the small towns of Sweeny (28 years) and Palacios (11 years) encompassed his entire career. As shepherd of these two congregations, he was doubly blessed as he pursued his passion as a called and ordained servant of the Word and a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Boineau is survived by his wife, Peggy Boineau; his parents, Robert (Phyllis) Boineau and Priscilla (Arnold) Skalka; his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Sergio Romero; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Whitney Boineau; his honorary son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Rosanna Oglesby; his brothers, Robert Waddell Boineau, Jr., David (Randi) Ortiz, and Anthony (Monica) Ortiz; four grandchildren and 5 honorary grandchildren.

The funeral will take place at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11th, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sweeny, TX. A graveside service will follow at Sweeny Cemetery.
