Patrick Max Preas, born on September 22, 1951, in Wharton, TX , passed into the arms of the Lord on October 26, 2024, in Sweeny, Texas. He was a cherished member of his community, leaving behind a legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and friendship.
A dedicated professional, Pat began his career as a school teacher upon graduating college. However, he soon pursued his passion for geology, earning his Bachelor's degree and embarking on a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry. His work took him around the globe and even out to sea on rigs, where he relished the opportunity to immerse himself in diverse cultures. This international experience was among his proudest accomplishments, allowing him to foster a deep appreciation for the world and its people.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Pat enjoyed a rich and fulfilling social life. Whether sharing a laugh with close friends at the Bulldog Cafe during “Wine Down Wednesdays”, caring for Sweeny’s pets as the unofficial neighborhood dog sitter, or cheering on his beloved Astros, heenriched the community with his unique and thoughtful personality. An avid woodworker, gardener, artist, and lover of nature, Pat enjoyed many hobbies that connected him with the outdoors. Pat’s greatest passion and priority in life was being a father to his two daughters, Annie andPaige. Through times of joy and hardship, he put his love and energy into making a better life for his daughters. His relationship with his daughter, Annie, became a pillar of strength for him, and he for her. Pat and Annie shared an unbreakable bond that they held on to closely that changed both of their lives.
He is survived by his two loving daughters, Paige Elizabeth Preas of Richmond, Texas, and Annie Claire Preas of Soquel, California; his sister, Iris Cool; his niece, Catherine Johnson; great nieces Elise and Lily and his nephew, Phillip Cool.
