Paul Edwin Hattaway, 89 of Sweeny, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in Sweeny, Texas. He was born April 14, 1928 in Crenshaw County, Alabama to Daniel and Ruby (Gibson) Hattaway. After serving in the United States Air Force during World War II, Mr. Hattaway attended University of Houston and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in photography business, Hattaway Studio in West Columbia which he operated for 20 years. During his time at the University of Houston he met his wife, Sylvia who was also a U of H student. They were married during their senior year and enjoyed 59 years together. Mr. Hattaway was a member of the Masonic Lodge; St. John's Post No. 5 and was a past master of the lodge. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0503 in West Columbia for 10 years. Mr. Hattaway was a firm believer in the code of the Boy Scouts and served the Boy Scouts in many leadership positions. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award which is the highest honor for a leader to obtain.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in West Columbia with Father Jim Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Friday evening, July 7, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia.

Paul is survived by sons, Michael Edwin Hattaway and wife, Connie and Russell Warren Hattaway; brothers, David Hattaway and Ernest Hattaway; grandchildren, Clinton Michael Hattaway and wife, Jill; Jennifer Hattaway Hanson, Delia Hattaway Lemons, Barbara Hattaway Lopez and husband, Gerberth, John Paul Hattaway, Christopher Taylor Hattaway and Morgan Hattaway Homniok and husband, Teal; great-grandchildren, Scout Hattaway, Dylan Hanson, Micah Hanson, Grant Hattaway, Ruby Lemons, Ronnie Lemons, Kasynn Faulk, Raylynn Birdwell, Annistynn Homniok, Lina Lopez, Diana Lopez and Tiago Lopez.

Preceded in death by wife, Sylvia Perez Hattaway, parents, Ruby and Daniel Hattaway, brother, John Hattaway; great-granddaughter, Lauren Hattaway.
