Pearl Laverne Granville

July 28, 1941 — January 22, 2026

San Diego, CA

Pearl Laverne Beverly Granville was born on July 28, 1941, to Robert Beverly Sr. and Susie Patterson Beverly in Brazoria, Texas. Pearl attended Charlie Brown High School in West Columbia, Texas, where she participated in Track and Field. She was baptized at an early age at Hall Chapel Baptist Church.

On June 3rd, 1961, she married Aaron Lee Granville in Bailey’s Prairie, TX and had one child who they named Audrey Granville. Her husband Aaron Granville joined the Navy and the family later moved to San Diego, CA where they both resided until their death. Pearl was a longstanding member of Mt. Erie Baptist Church in San Diego. She was affectionately known as “Mama Pearl.”

Pearl was known for her outgoing personality. She was very personable and loved to talk! She had a way of making others feel comfortable immediately and she had a big heart. She loved being a grandmother to grandson Daniel J. Riley and absolutely loved being a great grandmother to Daniel A.P. Riley, Zemira Riley and Jordan Riley, who they lovingly called “Gigi”.

Pearl was stricken with several strokes last year which kept her hospitalized during the latter part of 2025. Her daughter Audrey and grandson Daniel never left her side, nurturing and loving her until the good Lord saw that her suffering was enough. Even in the midst of her pain and suffering, Pearl continued to thank God and would whisper “God is Good.” The Lord was gracious and merciful and called her home on Thursday January 22, 2026. In our hearts and memories, Pearl will continue to be with us. She was blessed with a large and loving family and close friends. She leaves a legacy of strength, courage and a strong faith in the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Beverly Sr. and mother, Susie Patterson Beverly, husband, Aaron L. Granville, brothers, Clarence Brown Sr., Leroy Brown, Joe Brown and Louis Beverly, sisters, Betty Jane Lewis, and Barbara Ray Williams.

She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Granville, San Diego, CA; grandson Daniel J. Riley, (Erica), San Diego, CA; brothers Robert Beverly Jr, (CoSandra), West Columbia, TX; Eugene Beverly, Brazoria, TX, sisters Dorothy Mouton, Houston, TX and Leola Beverly King, Van Vleck, TX. Great grandchildren, Daniel, Zemira and Jordan Riley, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends who she loved dearly.
