In Loving Memory of Peggy Butler Giesie-Wetz

Peggy Butler Giesie-Wetz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and cherished friend, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 8, 2026. She was born on August 24, 1946, and spent her life leaving a lasting impression on the many people blessed enough to know and love her.

Peggy was a woman who loved deeply and gave freely of herself to the people around her. Family was at the heart of her life, and there was nothing she enjoyed more than being surrounded by the people she loved. Whether gathered around the kitchen table, visiting with family, catching up with an old friend, or simply enjoying the company of those closest to her, Peggy had a way of making people feel welcome, loved, and at home.

She had a loving and generous spirit, but those who knew Peggy best also knew she had a quick wit and a wonderfully funny personality. She could make people laugh with a perfectly timed comment, a funny story, or simply the way she delivered something. Peggy had a special ability to bring lightness and laughter into a room, and her sense of humor will be remembered right alongside her kindness. She never needed a special occasion to enjoy a good visit or share a laugh.

Peggy’s love for others was evident in the way she cared for her family and friends. She treasured the relationships she built throughout her life and never took for granted the time spent together. She was the kind of person whose presence became a part of the fabric of a family, a familiar voice, a warm smile, a good story, and a steady source of love.

Her faith was an important part of who she was, and although her family and friends will deeply feel the sorrow of her passing, they can find comfort in knowing that Peggy has now gone home to her Lord and Savior.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Craig Giesie; her parents, Gilbert and Annie May Butler; and her brothers, Donald Butler and Ronald Butler.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Albert Wetz; her daughter, Stacie Giesie; her stepchildren, Alice Wetz, Gaye Powell, and Albert "Butch" Wetz, Jr.; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Richard Butler; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Though Peggy is no longer here to share a visit, tell a story, make someone laugh, or offer her love, the memories she created will remain. Her family will carry her with them in the stories they tell, the laughter they share, and in the love that she so freely gave.

A memorial service will be held on Friday August 14, 2026 11am at C.T. Baker and Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia.
