Percy Truitt

Percy Ray Truitt passed away at his home on March 14, 2023 at the age of 80 surrounded by his loving family. Percy was born on July 5, 1942 in Brazoria, TX to Robert Allen and Carrie Mary Truitt.

Percy was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Mary Truitt; his siblings Clara, Willie, Georgia, Jake, Buddy, Bill, and Shorty; and son-in-law, Greg.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 years, Lynda Truitt; sister, Mary Bob Hockett; sons, Joe Truitt (Belinda Truitt) and Lonnie Truitt (DeDe Truitt); daughters, Karen Truitt (Ricky Weilnau), Cheryl Grimes, Heather Gee, Jamie Bozeman (Chris Bozeman), and Jennifer Hardwick (Chad Hardwick); 17 grandkids; 20 great-grandkids; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Percy graduated from Sweeny High School in 1960. He served as an MP in the US Army from 1964-1966. Percy served 30 plus years as a reserve police officer for the Sweeny Police Department, where he retired as reserve captain. He was a full-time carpenter by trade.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10am at Shady Acres Baptist Church.
