Raymond G. Bigler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 29, 2023, at the age of 88 in Pearland, TX. Born on October 4, 1935, in Houston, TX to Pee Wee Parrin and Bernice Johnson Parrin.
Raymond lived a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and service to his country. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Raymond's time in the Army was marked by exceptional commitment and loyalty. He was a member of President Dwight Eisenhower's honor guard during his inauguration. Serving as part of the Army's 3rd Infantry based in Arlington, VA, Raymond earned his honorable discharge and left a lasting impact on those he served alongside.
Following his military service, Raymond embarked on a career that spanned many years as an operator at Phillips Petroleum. His dedication and tireless work ethic were admired by all who knew him.
Outside of work, Raymond cherished his hobbies and interests. An avid fisherman, he found solace and joy in spending time on calm waters with a fishing rod in hand. Raymond was also a passionate sports fan who loved cheering for his favorite teams: the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans. His enthusiasm for these teams was infectious and brought him closer to friends and family.
Family was everything to Raymond. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, Virginia Bigler. They married on May 10, 1958 and remained happy together until the time of her passing. The love they shared was a shining example of devotion and companionship. Raymond was also blessed with two wonderful children: daughter Dawn Jensen and her husband Carlton of McKinney, TX; son Michael Bigler and his wife Elisabeth of Pearland, TX. He is also survived by his grandson's Ryan Bigler & Kyle Jensen and his great-granddaughter Skylar Jensen.
Raymond's sister Barbara Weems and her husband Mickey of West Columbia shared countless memories together throughout their lives. Their bond was unbreakable and brought immeasurable joy to Raymond's heart.
A kind and compassionate man, Raymond touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering support will be deeply missed. Raymond leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on January 13, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr. West Columbia, TX. A Memorial Service will follow at the same location from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. Raymond will be laid to rest with military honors during a burial service at Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny, TX, starting at 1:00 PM.
