Raymond Bryant Darrell, lovingly known as "Baby Boy" and "BB," was born on January 23, 1960, in Borger, Texas, and passed away on May 15, 2026, at Bay City Memorial Hospital at the age of 66, surrounded by his family.
BB grew up in Old Ocean and Sweeny, Texas, and graduated from Sweeny High School in 1978. Shortly after graduation, he began a long and dedicated career with Phillips 66 Refinery, where he worked for 36 years before retiring.
BB lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He was known for his kind heart, his unforgettable storytelling and his willingness to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. After retirement, he proudly took the unofficial role of, "neighborhood watch," always keeping an eye out -- sometimes even questioning county officials in unmarked cars.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting and gardening. One of his greatest passions was teaching kids how to fish, a mission that reflected his generous spirit and love for sharing what he knew. BB was also a bit of a prankster, a true foodie and always ready for his next adventure.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Darrell; his grandparents, Ray and Roxy Darrell; and Lefty and Jenny Langley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; his children, Robert Darrell and Heather Mendez (Joe); his grandchildren, Renee and Joey; his mother, Judy Darrell; his brother, James Darrell (Kim); his brother-in-law, Jim; his sisters-in-law, Darlene Tipps (Brian) and Nicole Stell (Daniel); his mother-in-law, Doreene; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
A Memorial service will be held on May 23, 2026, at First Baptist Church Brazoria, at. 11:00am. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate Raymond's life and share their memories. A viewing will precede the services, allowing all who knew him to pay their respects
