Richard "Rick" Pressley

Richard Julian Pressley, aka Rick, 64 of Bay City, passed away in his home on November 4, 2020. He was born to Richard Junior Pressley and Julia Rollins Pressley on June 19, 1956 in Camden, South Carolina.

Rick joined the United States Army on May 21, 1975 and was honorably discharged on May 18, 1978. His final rank was SP4 and he was an expert rifle man. He married the love of his life, Mary Esther Garza, on January 14, 1980. He called her his “Tijuana Hot Momma.”  He was a devoted husband and loved his family. He loved to sing and read God’s word. He formed the family group known as the “Redemption Voices of Praise” and took his family to the gospel singings that were held monthly. Rick worked hard all his life to provide for his family and he had a huge bond with his fellow employees. He was last employed with Zachary and his coworkers had nicknamed him “Ramhand.” He was an iron worker foreman.

Rick is survived by his 3 children, Randy Lewis Garza, Nina Marie Pressley, and Julia Ann Peden; sister, Vickie Wilene Pressley; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 4 nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pressley; father, Richard Junior Pressley; mother, Julia Pressley Banks; and his 2 sisters, Frances Kidd and Elizabeth Pressley.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at C. T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 pm until service time.
