"Ruth" Amason

"Ruth" LaVern Amason, 79, of Brazoria, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. She was born on December 24, 1939 in Navasota, Texas to Earl and Lily (Koester) Danford.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia with Chaplain Cliff Robertson officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am until service time. Burial will follow at Brazoria Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be James Blake Shanks, Jerry Krenek, Cody Truitt, Brian Rosenbaum, Bobby Fielden, and Sean Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth John Rabe, Edward Lane Krenek, Colten Krenek, Jace Truitt, Braxton Rosenbaum, Payton Gibson, and James Waylan Shanks.

"Ruth" LaVern is survived by her son, James Shanks and wife, Lori of Brazoria; daughter, Debbie Jean Holden and husband, Mike of Brazoria; brother, Kenneth Danford and wife, Gwen of Brazoria; sister, Deborah Ann Rabe of West Columbia; sisters-in-law, Barbara McDaniel of Brazoria, Beth Hester of Brazoria and Ginger Danford of West Columbia; grandchildren, James Blake Shanks and wife, Eileen of Pearland, Jessica Leann Krenek and husband, Jerry of Danbury, Kathryn Shanks of Brazoria, Stacy Gibson and husband, Sean of Sweeny, Tracy Rosenbaum and husband, Brian of New Boston, Cody Truitt of Brazoria, and Michelle Holden of Brazoria; great-grandchildren, James Waylan Shanks, Edward Lane Krenek, Colten Riley Krenek, Abigail Shanks, Isabella Shanks, Payton Gibson, Jace Truitt, Brielle Rosenbaum, Kyler Rosenbaum, and Braxton Rosenbaum; along with nieces and nephews, Mike Danford, Melinda Danford, Bobby and Debra Fielden, Deanna and Jason Martin, Amanda Rabe, Kenneth John Rabe, Clinton McDaniel, Larry McDaniel, and Eda Metcalf.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Amason; son, Kenneth Earl Shanks; brother, Earl Danford, Jr.; sister, Doris Burk; brother-in-law, Johnny Rabe; nephew, Mark Danford; father-in-law, William Henry Amason; mother-in-law, Betty Amason; and brothers-in- law, Merton McDaniel, Cloyd Hester, and Thomas Amason.
