Sandra Shelton

Sandra Starr Shelton, 74, of Brazoria, Texas passed away on April 15, 2023 in Lake Jackson, Texas surrounded by her children. Sandra was born on February 18, 1949, to Mildred LaPlant in Orange, Texas.

Sandra attended high school in Bourbon, Missouri where she met the love of her life, Jerry Wayne Shelton.  They were married on October 14, 1966, in Sullivan, Missouri.  They were married for 33 years before Jerry passed away in July of 2000.  Sandra’s hobbies included reading and attending her children’s activities such as softball, basketball, and volleyball.  Once the grandchildren arrived, her hobbies changed to loving and spoiling them.

Sandra is survived by her 3 children: Sheila Lenting of Brazoria, Jerry Shelton, Jr. (Melisa) of Angleton and Jeanette Davis (James DeLaCruz) of Cypress. Sandra is also survived by her 5 grandchildren:  Todd Lenting (Courtney Carter-Gideon), Leigha Lenting (Corey Boren), Jerry Shelton, III, Emma Lenting, and Ashley Davis.  She also has 5 great grandchildren:  Emery, Zane and Ella Basham, Atticus Gideon, and Aries Lenting. She is survived by her brother (Jerry) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sandra is preceded in death by Jerry Shelton (husband), Mildred LaPlant (mother) and siblings: Leona, Sharon, Rita, Donna, Eula, Lois, Lynn, Dennis, Bud, Wayne, and Wanda.

Pallbearers include Charles Chambers, Jr., Jerry Shelton, III, Ben Hopwood, Billy Hunter, Trent Kocurek, and Tommy Kay.  Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Shelton, Jr., Todd Lenting, Zane Basham, and James DeLaCruz.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday evening from 5-7 P.M. and again on Friday from 9-10 A.M. at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home, 118 W. Texas Ave. Brazoria.  Funeral service to begin at 10:00 A.M.  Interment to follow at Colonial Cemetery in Brazoria.
