Shari Boykin

September 5, 1964 — July 15, 2020

Sweeny

Go rest high on that mountain, your work on earth is done.

Shari Heard Boykin, 55, of Sweeny, Texas passed from this life from complications of Juvenile Diabetes (Type 1), on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Shari was born September 5, 1964, in Wharton, Texas to James Lewis Heard and Sue Kidwell Heard. She attended Sweeny Schools and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville where she would meet her future husband, Larry.

Shari is survived by her husband, Larry Wayne Boykin, of Sweeny; beloved daughter, Amanda Hargett and husband Randy of Brazoria; grandchild, Alexis Hargett; and stepson, Kevin Boykin.

She is also survived by her father, James Heard and wife Joan of Sweeny; mother, Sue Bump and husband Jerry of Taylor; sister, Trish Heard Welch and husband Eric of Lago Vista; sons, Samuel & Cameron; sister, Marnie Heard of Sweeny; and her children, Jacob, Zoe, and Zachery Peterson.

Shari never met a stranger and was loved by so many. In Jr High and high school Shari was a twirler, was in band and choir, and is well remembered by her Class of ‘83 friends and classmates. Shari worked for many years at West Columbia City Library and loved her coworkers and visitors to the library. In the last two years, she worked from a wheelchair, but never gave in or gave up nor did she ever lose her incredible sense of humor. Shari wanted nothing more than to be a Mimi so she was overjoyed when granddaughter Alexis would come to visit during story hour or craft times. Larry played the role of Santa Claus for many years and he and Shari were perfect in the role of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The last two Christmases were a special joy when Alexis posed with Santa and "Mimi" Shari.

Before she was old enough to attend school, Shari met friends who would continue their friendship all through school, marriages, and life events. They formed a pact to love and care for each other and called themselves The Great Eight. Special thanks for the love and support from friends Jamie Marcum Harris, Rhonda Frankum, Kelly Bertsch, Cindy Kahanek, Tami Snedecor Brown, Jan Howard Estes, and Karah Powell.

Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Sweeny on Saturday, July 25 at 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon.

The family asks that remembrances be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in Shari's name.

Go to Heaven shouting, love for the Father and the Son.
