Obituary

Shaun Patrick O’Grady, 62, was born June 4, 1964 in Port Arthur Texas to Michael Lee “Mickey” and Carol Ann O’Grady. With family at his side, he passed away October 14, 2026 in Lake Jackson Texas.

Shaun was a retired licensed Supply Vessel Captain in the offshore oil and gas industry.

Shaun was proud of his Irish heritage and was a gifted storyteller and amateur comedian to those close to him. He loved to cook for his family and friends, and immensely enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson until losing his vision in the last year. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his greatest joy.

Besides his family, one of his proudest accomplishments was becoming an Ordained Minister. He was credentialed by the Universal Life Church Ministries and ordained on November 30, 2023.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dorothy Hoffman O’Grady; children Draysha O’Grady, Justin O’Grady, and Conner O’Grady, all of West Columbia; and Jacob Piper of Angleton.

Grandchildren Jace O’Grady and Audrey O’Grady of Richland, Washington; Isaac Galvan, Genesis O’Grady, and Ridge Guajardo all of West Columbia.

Brothers, Michael O’Grady and Shane O’Grady of West Columbia; sister, Shanna Efird of Lake Jackson; and nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by parents Michael Lee O’Grady and Carol Ann Sheffield; brother, Shae Coleman; and, infant son, Tavish O’Grady.
