Stanley Stowers

Stanley Stratton Stowers, "Papa" was the sweetest, loving, God fearing man that continually showered us with love; and boy did he have a lot to go around with 4 kids, 21 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. His strong spiritual leadership was not only led by example, but also created a stable foundation for our family. His unwavering love and devotion to the Lord will forever remain imprinted on our hearts. He touched many people throughout his years at teaching Sunday school and being the gospel song leader at church. Any who knew "papa" knew of his generosity, selflessness and his unconditional love.

He passed away at his home on Friday, March 10, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 10, 1934 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Ira Griffin and Jesse (Dyer) Stowers. He worked as a surveyor in the construction industry and a member of Gulf Coast Christian Center.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 10:00am, with B.F. Flowers and Bobbie Hankins officiating at Gulf Coast Christian Center, burial will follow at Brazoria Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Stowers, Doug Stowers, Nathan Peveto, Trey Gromaski, Bubba Stowers, Ethan Coker, Nick Coker and Michael Hamilton.

Stanley is survived by sons, Stanley Stowers, Jr; Larry Stowers and wife, Terri; daughters, Lou Gromaski and husband, David; and Suzanne Vickers and husband, Allen; brother, Floyd Stowers and sister, Doris Cupp along with 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sara Stowers, grandson, John Nathan Peveto and great-grandchildren, Marshall Sims and Lucy Kate Leavell.
