 Timothy Greene Pettigrew September 3, 1962 – June 18, 2025

Timothy Greene Pettigrew, 62, of Sweeny, Texas, peacefully passed away at home on June 18, 2025. Born on September 3, 1962, at Matagorda General Hospital to Delmar and Edna Earl Pettigrew, Tim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was defined by generosity, service, and an enduring commitment to his community.

From an early age, Tim was active in service to others. At just 12 years old, he began volunteering at Bennett Outlar Baseball Park, mowing fields and hanging advertising boards. Over the years, he continued this legacy as a volunteer umpire for Sweeny, Rosenberg, and Lamar Little Leagues, and as a coach for Rosenberg Little League. He also supported youth and agriculture through his roles as a sponsor, buyer, and volunteer at both the Fort Bend and Brazoria County Fairs.

Tim’s contributions to local charities and causes were countless. He was an annual donor to Child Advocacy of Fort Bend County, a longtime volunteer at Helping Hands of Richmond, and a regular participant in community fundraisers, golf tournaments, and benefit events—often helping complete strangers without hesitation. He was also instrumental in the founding and support of many local initiatives, including Sweeny United, the Sweeny Community Thanksgiving Feast, and Veterans Day breakfasts throughout Brazoria County.

A man of deep faith, Tim was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church in Richmond, where he sang in the choir, and later at First Methodist Church of Sweeny, where he served on the finance committee and continued singing.

For over 31 years, Tim owned and operated All-Affordable Termite and Pest Control, earning the respect of clients and peers alike. He also served six years as Councilman (Position 5) for the City of Sweeny, was Parliamentarian for the Sweeny Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Sweeny Cemetery Association. He championed local schools through unwavering support of FFA and Booster Clubs.

Tim was also involved in historic and civic organizations including the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Texas Nationalist Movement, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans and their Mechanized Cavalry. He volunteered at Varner-Hogg State Park and Sea Center Texas and helped initiate “Wreaths Across America” at Sweeny Cemetery to honor veterans.

Whether riding his motorcycle, telling stories, singing in church, or traveling with his beloved family, Tim lived life with heart, humor, and a deep sense of purpose—weaving love, family, and friendship into his life every step of the way. His laughter was contagious, and his generosity boundless.

Tim is survived by his loving wife, Beth Anna Pettigrew; children Sarah Travis (Cody), Alyssa Pettigrew, Justin Pettigrew (Mikela), and Hannah Weeden; grandchildren Cutler Travis (Sarah), Devendra Barrera (Alyssa), and a granddaughter on the way from Justin and Mikela; sister Marilyn Long (Kirk); in-laws Shirley Pettigrew (Rick), Eileen Pettigrew (Les), and Tom Ennis (Tammy), also survived by his Mother and Father-in-law Elizabeth and Gary Huff, his brother-in-law Charles Lester Morton, III and Brenda Morton and countless nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Edna Earl Pettigrew, and siblings Rick Pettigrew, Les Pettigrew, and Tammy Ennis.
