Trent Daniel Motley, 40, of Brazoria, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, on January 23, 2026. He was born on July 10, 1985, in Lake Jackson, Texas, to Rick Motley and Dayrol Lee Kime.
Trent graduated from Columbia High School in 2006. Despite his intellectual disability and cerebral palsy, Trent had a huge personality and lived his life full of laughter, fun, and so much love. He held a special place in each of our hearts, one that will never be replaced. He enjoyed being around people and especially loved being with family. He would match the energy in the room.
Trent will be remembered for his ever-expanding hat collection and his love of football. He watched any football, but especially enjoyed the friendly family rivalry between Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans fans. He supported each team just as passionately and would insist on changing his attire to match whichever side had managed to rile him up the most. More than anything, he will be remembered for his affection: hugs in which he never let go first, his kisses and sweet hand hugs.
God created Trent uniquely and with a purpose, and there is no doubt, he touched the heart of every person that crossed his path.
Trent is preceded in death by his mother, Dayrol Lee Kime, both maternal and paternal grandparents and brother-in-law Eristeo Garza Jr. He is survived by his father, Rick Motley, brother, Peter Guel (Peggy), twin brother, Travis Motley (Nicole), sisters, Tammy Garcia, Misty Garza, Mindy Neel (Andy) and Hayley Jones (Jacob), and numerous nephews, nieces and great-nephews and nieces.
We want to thank everyone at Baylor College of Medicine’s Transition Medicine Clinic, Baylor St Lukes Medical Center, All The Little Things Count and Gentiva Hospice for their guidance, support and care over the years. We also want to give special thanks to Stephanie Truitt and Sarah Holmes for the impeccable love and care they gave to Trent.
Trent, you will live on forever in our hearts … and will forever be “The Favorite”!
Visitation will be on February 5, 2026 at 1:00, followed by his service at 2:00. Both at Brazoria First Assembly. Burial will follow at the Brazoria Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Guel, Dylan Knight, Eddie Garza, Cayde Brewer, Steven Morgan, and Justin Perry.
