Trudy French

March 1, 1925 — November 17, 2018

Gertrude (Trudy) Louise French, beloved mother and grandmother, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at her home in West Columbia, Texas, surrounded by family. Trudy was born on March 1, 1925, in Harrah, Oklahoma to Arthur Benjamin and Helen Corrier Browning.

Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth C. French, her oldest child, Bobbie L. Briscoe, and her brothers, James L. Porter and Louis H. Porter. She is survived by her son, James A. Briscoe, and his wife, Betty Jo, by her daughter, Linda L. Caraway, and her husband, Patrick, as well as by her grandchildren, Trish Koehn, and her husband, Jim, Stacey Briscoe, and his wife, Kim, Leslie Snyder, and her husband, Danny, James L. Briscoe, Chris Briscoe, and his wife, Annalisa, as well as by her great grandchildren and great great grandchild, all of whom she adored and who loved her very dearly. Her dear nephew, Richard L. Porter, and his wife, Lynn, also survive her.

In her life, Trudy most loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She greatly loved being a mother and grandmother. During her forty-year membership at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, she was devoted to serving in numerous capacities including Eucharistic minister, Disciples in Mission Coordinator, Spiritual Advisor and active participant in the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was a volunteer with the Angleton police department in their Citizen on Patrol Organization and served her neighbors and greater community whom she loved and who loved her.

Trudy was able to live independently in her own home, as an avid gardener and all around helper to neighbors, friends and strangers alike. With the immeasurable devotion and support of her family and her beloved friends, she lived at home until the last week of her life. This was further made possible by the support of the larger West Columbia community, including her personal physicians and CHI St. Luke's staff at every level, about all of whom she constantly remarked "I am so thankful".

Trudy was a true animal lover, having had many treasured furry companions over the years.
Admired and adored by countless family and friends, Trudy was a very special, very precious person who will be deeply missed and always remembered with the utmost respect and love.
