Velma Jean Kraemer, 96 of Sweeny, Texas passed away, Sunday, April 4, 2021. Velma was born, April 3, 1925 in Angleton, Texas to Herman H. and Minnie Rhoda. She graduated from Boling High School, Boling, TX and then went on to nursing school at University of Texas in Galveston, Texas. It was during her time at Galveston that she met the love of her life, Tafry (T K ) Kraemer at a USO dance. They were married 52 years. While T. K. Was away at war, Velma graduated nursing school and then did private duty nursing. She was a nurse for over 50 years working at Sweeny Community Hospital and Brazosport Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1996. After retirement, she enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She was a member of St Joseph on the Brazos Catholic Church and the Altar Society and the Home Extension Club of Brazoria County. She especially enjoyed the county fair, showing her canned goods and plants and winning many ribbons. She loved when her grandchildren and then great-grandchildren were involved in school or sporting activities and she could go and watch them. She was one of their biggest fans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.K. Kraemer, parents, Herman and Minnie Rhoda, brother, Herman Rhoda, granddaughter, Mika Kraemer and special grand dog, Brittney.

She is survived by sons, Gary (Lori) Kraemer, Michael (Vicki) Kraemer and daughter, Karen (Chuck) Azbell. Grandchildren, Michael (Michell) Azbell, Gary Hart (Christina) Kraemer, Kathryn (Johnny) Savell, Lashele Almonte, Thomas (Jena) Kraemer, Laura (Danny) Zamora and Matthew (Jennifer) Kraemer. Great-grandchildren, Olivia Kraemer, Rylan and Corbin Savell, Maisy and Liam Almonte, Bristol, Brooklyn, Brody and Brelyn Kraemer, Caiden and Landry Zamora, and Ryan, Miles and Eliana Kraemer along with numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service for family and friends at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Park, Wharton, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph's on the Brazos Catholic Church, 219 CR 762, Brazoria, TX 77422 or to A-Med Community Hospice, 8900 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Ste. 102, Texas City, TX 77511.
