Verlyn Dobson Jr.

Verlyn "Jr" S. Dobson Jr., 66, died March 17, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Brazoria, Texas.

He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Dianne Rouse Dobson and father to Jenny and Verlyn Michael. Jr was born in Houston, Texas on December 3, 1952. He served in the United States Navy as a boiler technician in the early 1970s.

A well manicured lawn and camping were among his many enjoyments in life. Working hard and passing on his experience and knowledge to his "boys" is part of the legacy he leaves behind. Many happy hours were spent dreaming of fast cars and old trucks with his grandsons, Gus and Mason, and nephews, Buddy and Donnie.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne; daughter, Jenny Dobson Butler; friend and son-in-law, Don Butler; son, Verlyn Michael Dobson; brothers, Edward and Keith Dobson; and sister, Doralene Dobson Lewis. Also to treasure his memory are sisters-in-law, Evelyn Lennon (Gary), Linda Collins (Darrell); brothers-in-law, Marty Rouse (Jackie), and Steve Rouse (Michelle). Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren called him Pawpaw while countless special nephews and nieces called him Uncle Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Verlyn and Doris Dobson and Clarence and Louise Rouse; brother, Gerald Dobson; brother-in-law, Gene Lewis; sister-in-law, Linda Sapp Rouse; and dear friend, Donna Carroll Whitehead.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

A brief service will begin at 6:30 p.m. on, Wednesday, March 20 at Lake Jackson Civic Center. The family invites guests to join them in celebration and remembrance following the service.
