Vernon Stewart

Vernon Ray Stewart, 82 , of Brazoria, Texas, passed away. Monday, November 12th, 2018, while enjoying the view of tending his cattle at the ranch he truly loved.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00pm at the Brazoria First Assembly of God, 601 S. Market St , Brazoria, Texas 77422 on Saturday, November 17th with B. F. Flowers officiating. The burial will follow the service at the Brazoria Cemetery. Friends may pay their last respects from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the church Friday evening.

Vernon was born November 10th, 1936 in Crocket, Texas to Joseph Isaiah and Opal Virginia Stewart. He graduated from "The School of Hard Knocks" as he would put it. On June 14th, 1957 he married his true love, Joyce Yvonne Gore. They built together an enormous family that can withstand all trials and tribulations. Although the blood family is of great numbers it's the friendships and communities that made him a historical figure. He has guided so many in their lives with his words of wisdom and his wealth of knowledge it couldn't possibly be measured. He spent his life loving the ranch and his cattle but most of all his family. He built a legacy.

He was survived by his wife, Joyce and his son Dwain Stewart wife Tina, his daughter Donna Stewart Fink and husband James, his daughter Alesia Stewart, his daughter Brenda Stewart Gregurek along with 20 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Granchildren and 2 on the way. His brother Calvin Stewart and wife Maimie, his sister Joyce Finley and husband Kenneth, his brother Ronnie Stewart and wife Elizabeth and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. Preceded in death by his parents J.I. and Opal Stewart, brother Charles Wayne Stewart and adopted sister Martha Stewart.
