Veva Jo Sloma, age 90, of West Columbia, Texas, passed away on October 17, 2026, in Angleton, Texas. She was born on July 28, 1936, in Kilgore, Texas, to Charlene and J.C. Gathright. She moved to West Columbia early in her childhood and graduated from West Columbia High School (1954).

Veva Jo met Roy Wayne Sloma in high school and were married shortly following her graduation. After Roy completed his service in the Army, they made West Columbia their home where she was a devoted wife for 46 years until Roy Wayne’s passing in 2002. Later Veva Jo spent years traveling with her companion, Buck Traylor. They enjoyed exploring different parts of the United States, relaxing amid the beautiful scenery and attending dances in their community.

Vevo Jo' survivors include her sweetheart, Buck Traylor, Chuck Sloma (son) and wife Jennifer, Jennifer Logan (granddaughter) and husband Taylor, Ryan Sloma (grandson) and wife Katie.

Veva Jo will be remembered for her devotion to her family and the life she shared with those she loved.
