Virginia Lesher

February 1, 1932 — March 12, 2022

Sweeny, Texas

Virginia “Arline” Patton Lesher of Sweeny, Tx left her earthly body on March 12,2022, to be with her Lord and Savior and the love of her life in Heaven.  She was 90 years old, born on February 1, 1932, in Pampa, Tx to Jackson Jones “Jack” Patton and Bertha Mabel Bowers Patton.

She married Marvin Ralph Lesher, on August 12, 1946, and together they had three children: Rodney Leon, Cynthia Marie, and Gregory Adam. Her pride and joy were her family.

Arline was a full- time wife, homemaker, and mother; and later served her community by volunteering with The Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Sweeny Hospital. She was also an exercise instructor at the Sweeny Wellness Center for many years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sweeny.

Arline could often be found in the kitchen frying redfish, shrimp or baking flounder all freshly caught by her avid fisherman husband, Marvin.  Country music was her favorite pastime and she often played it while cleaning the house. She loved to collect cookbooks and recipes from family members and friends. She taught herself how to crochet and often made special items to give to a family member or friend. She loved “Dear Abby”and her laughter was contagious.

Arline is preceded in death by her parents, Jack, and Bertha Patton; her husband of 63 years, Marvin; her son Greg; and her sister, Jackie and husband John Rogers.

She enjoyed visiting with her three nieces and their families; LaDella Perry, Pamela Costner and Nancy Mauck and loved them as her own.

She is survived by her son Rodney Lesher of Oyster Creek, Tx. and daughter Cynthia Lesher-Maricle and husband Curtis Maricle of West Columbia, Tx.

Arline was blessed with three grandchildren, Chanda Richie and husband Ray of Angleton, Tx, Tosha Green and husband Monty of Angleton, Tx and Joshua Lesher of Lake Jackson, Tx

She has four great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jaleigh and Jax McCarey and Taylor Whitten.

She was also blessed with a granddaughter-in-love, Tara Maricle Ottembrajt and husband Adam of Dallas, Tx and great grandchildren-in-love, Braden Ottembrajt, Stella Simpson, Ty Ottembrajt and Tilly Ottembrajt

At her request, a private graveside service with her family will be held in Sweeny. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and son.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Country Village Care in Angleton, A-Med Community Hospice in Texas City and Help, Inc. in Lake Jackson.  We are so thankful for each and every one of you for making the last days of our beloved mother’s life more meaningful and fulfilling.  You are all very special Angels, and we shall never forget you. God Bless you and keep you.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Lesher will be Ray Richie, Monty Green, Jax McCarey, Rodney Lesher, Joshua Lesher, and Curtis Maricle.
