Wanda Taylor

Wanda Adelia Taylor, 92, of West Columbia, Texas, passed away in Country Village Care in Angleton, Texas on January 10, 2021. She was born on March 10, 1928 in Flatonia, Texas to John (Lump) and Martha (Wilson) Reid.

Wanda was a devoted wife, mom, and homemaker. She was active in sports in high school and later in a softball league. She enjoyed going on camping trips with family and going with the Golden First Family (First Baptist Church of West Columbia) on their many bus trips.

On October 1, 1948 she married Raymond Cecil Taylor. They were married almost 69 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; parents; sisters, Magie Sawyer and Vallie Smith; and brother, Leroy Reid.

Wanda is survived by her son, Ronald Taylor; daughter, Rita Hercik and husband, Harvey; daughter-in-law, Tricia Taylor; grandson, Richard Binderup and wife, Lacey; great-granddaughters, Emilee and Haylee Binderup; sister-in-law, Mildred Taylor; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of West Columbia. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 am until service time.

Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Reid, Mike Reid, Mark Taylor, Tommy Schuelke, Jimmy Reid, and Roy Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Schuelke, Ted Walker, Charlie Tindol, and Gene Hightower.

The family would like to thank Country Village Care in Angleton for the care they gave her while there, Angleton Danbury Hospital (UTMB) staff, and Amed Hospice Staff for their care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wanda’s name to a charity of choice.
