William Ferrell

William James Ferrell was born on November 24,1936 in Denton, Texas to Morris and Pauline Clement Ferrell

Although Jim was an only child, he shared many wonderful memories of growing up in Krum, Texas with his parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.   Krum is a rural area and Jim attributed the farm work of his youth as the motivation to obtain a college degree.

Jim was valedictorian of his class and following his high school graduation in 1955, in Krum, Texas Jim attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Jim thoroughly enjoyed his work and career as an engineer.  Jim was employed by Hughes Aircraft, Texas Instruments, Ferrell Engineering, and others during his 50-year career working and traveling throughout the world.

Jim’s two children, Nancy Ferrell and Sue Ferrell Baldor were the highlights and pride of his life.  He thoroughly enjoyed raising his family and spending time with them as adults.

Jim married Barbara Allen Taylor on April 12, 1999, in Austin, TX after being introduced by a mutual friend. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Lake Jackson, TX enjoying family life, traveling, and time with family and friends, especially his four grandchildren!

Jim was an avid reader and a lifelong fan of Disney movies and Star Trek.    In retirement he enjoyed fishing and especially his weekly 42 game group.  He also researched and documented his family history and legends Jim will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and love for his family.  Jim was also a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church Lake Jackson, Texas.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Nancy Ferrell.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Taylor Ferrell, daughter Sue Baldor, stepdaughters Joan Bell (James) and Janice White (Jesse); four grandchildren Elizabeth Bell Chen (Daniel), Michael Bell, Katherine White, and Lauren White.  In addition, he loved his cousins and families.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday morning prior to the services.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home, 634 S. Columbia Drive, West Columbia, TX 77486.  Interment will follow at Brazoria Cemetery, 113 Tennis Street, Brazoria TX 77422.
