George William Allen, Jr., “Bill”, of Angleton, Texas, passed away at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas on December 4, 2021 after a battle with cancer.

A private memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be on Friday, December 17, 2021 at in the chapel of C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas.

George William Allen Jr., “Bill” to his family and friends, was born on June 12, 1955 in Freeport, Texas. Bill grew up in Angleton, with a large number of friends who had many good times together while growing up in the Angleton School District.  Bill joined the Air Force and served several years.  He was trained in radiology while in the military and continued in that field until his retirement, serving as the head of the Angleton Danbury Hospital Radiology Department, and later UTMB, for a number of years.

Bill enjoyed fishing, golfing, the great outdoors, and used his swimming pool daily.  He was an avid reader and while often quiet, had a wicked sense of humor.  He delighted in his friends and hosted a number of occasions where childhood and adulthood friends gathered routinely for good food and fun.  Bill possessed an introspective and reflective mind and would share his opinions only when pressed.  His counsel was always wise and thoughtful.  Bill was incredibly generous, and many friends, family, and others were gifted with the most thoughtful and fitting presents.

Bill was devoted to his wife Angela, and their children and grandchildren. Bill will be sorely missed by his loving family and many friends.

Bill is survived by beloved wife, Angela Allen of Angleton, and daughters Ashley Vasut and Jennifer Whittington and husband David Whittington; grandchildren Jayden Vasut, Teagan Osburn, JayLee Jimenez, Corbin Whittington, Conner Whittington and extended family.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, George William Allen, Sr. and Dorothy Jean Squire Allen.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Whittington, Terry Casey, Jeff Murray, Jim Brooks, Scott Vaughan, and Rob Dixson.

The family wishes to thank Jim Brooks, Terry Casey, and Jennifer Whittington for their care of Bill and providing as much comfort to him as possible.
