Marilyn R. Simpson of Sweeny, Texas passed away on January 14, 2021. She was born in Guymon, Oklahoma on September 25, 1946 at her Grandma Pierce’s home and was raised in the Glenrose/Unity area near Guymon on her parent’s farm and ranch. She was a genuine country girl who enjoyed the outdoors and spent all her spare time riding horses. She graduated from Guymon High School.
Marilyn met and married her true soul mate, Richard Simpson in 1964. Together they embarked upon a life filled with hard work and the fruits of success that came with that. They started their journey in Guymon Oklahoma and moved to Kermit, TX in 1966. She managed an Apartment complex in Kermit while her husband, Richard worked in the oilfield business for Amoco. They both worked multiple jobs simultaneously in those early days to make ends meet and provide a good home to both of their sons, Blake and Brett. She greatly enjoyed the Sorority and friends that she had in Kermit. She and her husband spent many weekend nights participating in the Dance Club that they both greatly enjoyed. In the early 1970s, the oilfield business moved the family to the west Texas town of Ozona. There she worked as a substitute teacher and continued following and watching her boys play sports. In 1978, she and her family made the last move to their current home in Sweeny, TX. This is where she spent the last 42 years of her life raising kids, enjoying her 4 grandkids, and spending her retirement fishing, camping, and hunting with her husband and family. Marilyn said the best 56 years of her life started the day she met her devoted husband Richard.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Richard Simpson, sons, Blake and his wife, Cherie Simpson of Mico, TX and Brett Simpson of Lake Jackson, TX; and grandkids, Shelby Tresten (Houston), Chandler Hine (San Antonio), Jake Simpson (Lake Jackson), and Max Simpson (Lake Jackson). She is also survived by her brother, Russel Pierce of Konawa, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. Pete Pierce and Audra (McNee) Pierce of Konawa, Oklahoma, and one brother, Raymond Pierce of Konawa, Oklahoma.
