Melvie Dye Campbell, 95, of Sweeny, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 in Sweeny, Texas. She was born June 17, 1926 in Oak Grove, Louisiana to the late Fannie (Madden) and Louis Taylor Dye.
Mrs. Campbell retired from Sweeny Community Hospital after years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church Sweeny, Sweeny Hospital Pink Ladies and lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, sewing, cooking and dancing. She took great pride in her family and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.E. Townsend (Cindy’s Dad), husband Bill Campbell, daughter Toni Hickman, son-in-law Kenneth Hickman, sisters Vera Stringer and Myrtle (Littlen) Tyson, brothers Charles (Jack) Dye, Cedell Dye and L.T. Hemphill.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her daughters Cindy Townsend, Valerie Wright and husband Tim; son William Campbell and wife Lorraine; grandchildren Richard Kalka, Chris Kalka, Greg Hickman, Cassi Martin, William Campbell, Zach Wright, ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in the Chapel of C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerl Watkins and Elder James Rebector officiating. Burial will be private.
