Robert Joseph Drozd, 88, of Brazoria, Texas passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 in Houston.
Bob was born on June 27, 1932 near El Campo, TX to John F. Drozd and Ann Lillian Drozd (Janda). He graduated from El Campo High School and then attended Texas A&M University, where he received a degree in Floriculture. He was a veteran who served in the US Army and was a member of The Knights of Columbus in Brazoria. He worked for over 25 years as a plant operator for BASF in Clute.
Bob loved to travel the US and Canada with his family, always taking extended yearly vacations with the family travel trailer. Later Bob and his wife Elaine extensively explored Europe and Australia.
Besides his family, Bob’s main joy in life was growing flowers and vegetables of all types. He always kept a garden and multiple green houses filled to the brim, and had a special love for growing Orchids. He regularly donated hundreds of plants to his church’s annual barbeque and bazaar.
Bob is survived by his two children, James Drozd of College Station, Texas and Eugene Drozd and wife Bobbi Jo of Green River, Wyoming and by his grandchildren, Kirstin Drozd, Triston Drozd, Raquel and husband Paul Ortiz, Andrew Maestas and great grandson Roman Ortiz. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine Marie Drozd (Brunner) and his brothers John Drozd and Victor Drozd.
A visitation with friends and loved ones will be Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Brazoria, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brazoria, Texas with Rev. Tin Pham officiating. Entombment will follow at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute, Texas.
